The qualification packaging has been developed on an assumption that competency will be developed. Learning is the most important activity in the watchmaking department at PJC. A legacy of 75-plus years is a strong foundation upon which the program continuously evolves to meet advancing industry standards. The two main courses to be offered are: a three-year general full-time course for youths of sixteen to seventeen who have attained School Certificate standard and a two-year advanced full-time course to follow the general course or to be entered directly by students who have reached ordinary National Certificate standard in engineering. This programme aims to discover and deepen understand of the fine watchmaking industry, prepare to enter the watch and jewellery industry and get the FHH. The Patek Philippe Horology Program of New York is a two year program there is no tuition and students are paid a small stipend. This qualification has been specifically developed for apprentices in trades related to watch and clock servicing and repair and describes the skills and knowledge required to perform trade work in watch and clock service and repair. It was established in Philadelphia as the American Horological Institute, and only renamed Ezra F. A representative board of governors under the chairmanship of Sir Allan Gordon Smith has been working for twelve months on preparations for the opening of the College, and a prospectus has been prepared which will be published shortly. According to a 1904 catalog, the school was founded independently of Bowman in 1889. The College is one of the national centres promoted by the Ministry of Education to cater for those specialized industries which are of great importance in the country's economy but which are too scattered to justify numerous small training centres. All watchmakers who have completed a program must apply their new skills in practice for at least 36 months before attending a next-level program. It will be housed in the Northampton Polytechnic, London, which for fifty years has been concerned with the training of craftsmen in watch and clock repairing.
